Our Story
The Beginning
From a Family Orchard to
Ohio's Finest Ciderworks
The first apple trees on this property were planted in the late 1990s by David Stotler, laying the foundation for what would become a special place for the community. In 2020, the property was purchased and thoughtfully renamed Sophie's Orchard & Ciderworks, continuing the tradition of growing apples while creating new memories for families.
Today, Sophie's Orchard & Ciderworks is a welcoming destination where families can explore, learn, and spend meaningful time together.
One of our most exciting highlights is a giant 6,000-gallon wooden oak barrel, over 125 years old. This remarkable piece of history once belonged to the historic Schuster Wine Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. We are proud to be the caretakers of the last nine remaining barrels from this legendary winery.
Kids and adults alike are amazed by the sheer size of the barrel while discovering how cider and wine were crafted generations ago. It's a hands-on way to explore Cleveland's rich agricultural and winemaking heritage, all while enjoying the peaceful beauty of the orchard.
Come walk among the trees, take photos, ask questions, and experience a place where history and nature come together.
